Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini
Pat is currently working on a wind transcription of Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. The transcription, which will retain the original solo piano, will be premiered at New York's Carnegie Hall in the Spring of 2012 by commissioning ensemble, the Rockwall Heath High School Wind Ensemble conducted by Benjamin Davis.
A Concord Symphony and Pictures at an Exhibition
Pat's wind transcriptions of Charles Ives' Piano Sonata No. 2 "Concord," re-titled A Concord Symphony and Modeste Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition recently received their premieres. Both were premiered in Austin, Texas by the University of Texas Wind Ensemble, Jerry Junkin, conductor. The Ives was premiered on November 22, 2010, while Pictures was premiered on May 4, 2011. Pictures was also featured in the season opening concert by the Dallas Wind Symphony, also conducted by Jerry Junkin on September 6, 2011

Several of Pat's transcriptions have recently been added to the Texas University Interscholastic League Prescribed Music List. Headlining the new additions is the recently completed Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition, as well as the Verdi Requiem Symphonic Suite, Rimsky-Korsakoff Scheherazade, Dukas The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Berlioz March to the Scaffold and Dream of a Witches Sabbath, and Bach Toccata and Fugue in d minor. |
